Welcome A.J!

A.J. Nel has joined the Uitsig team as our Sales Manager. Having just returned from working for six years in Shanghai (the world’s fastest growing and most dynamic wine market), A.J. brings with him valuable experience. “Naturally a move like this does not come easy, but I could not turn down the opportunity to join the young team at Uitsig, with a small but fantastic selection of wines and the prospects of some very exciting developments both at the farm, as well as with the brand. As a sales person, my golden rule is to only invest my energies into products that I believe in – and I’ve certainly found the right place for that!”

In the vineyards

Over the past few weeks, old vines that weren’t healthy have been removed and almost 5 hectares of new vines are in the process of being planted. Our existing vines have also been ploughed to break up the top soil and help the winter rains to penetrate properly. After enriching the soil with compost, we have also just finished planting our cover crops in-between our rows of vines. Lupins and a flower mix will not only add a beautiful colour to the vineyards in the months to come, but will also help to build a diverse population of insects, earthworms and bees in our vineyard

A race of Epic proportions

The Absa Cape Epic is arguably the most gruelling mountain bike stage race in the world. Stephen Eachus and Etnard Louw rode for Team Uitsig and did us proud – finishing 56th.
